Job Description

Position Overview:

The City of Detroit Lakes is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrative Intern to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer of 2025. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in local government while supporting multiple departments with a range of administrative and marketing tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and document organization.
  • Assist with internal and external communications, including creating content for newsletters and social media.
  • Contribute to marketing and outreach efforts by conducting research and supporting campaign planning.
  • Collaborate with staff on projects that enhance the efficiency and visibility of city services.
  • Provide additional administrative support as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.

Training and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in or planning to pursue a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic marketing strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, and eager to learn in a dynamic municipal environment.

Wage Details:

  • Hourly Wage: $18.01
