Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing the delivery of high-quality resident care within Trinity Homes. This role assists with guiding clinical operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal long-term care regulations, and reinforcing a resident-centered approach aligned with Trinity Health's Mission and values. Working closely with nursing staff, the Assistant Director of Nursing helps maintain consistent standards of practice, encourages effective communication, and contributes to a positive, collaborative team environment. The position also supports planning and management of departmental resources to promote safe, efficient, and compassionate care for residents.
Key Responsibilities: - Assist in overseeing daily nursing operations to ensure consistent, high quality resident care and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies, procedures, and clinical practices to promote resident safety and wellbeing.
- Provide guidance and leadership to nursing staff, including coaching, performance feedback, and support for professional development.
- Participate in care planning, resident assessments, and interdisciplinary collaboration to address resident needs and enhance outcomes.
- Monitor staffing levels, workflow, and resource utilization to maintain efficient and effective service delivery.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, survey readiness activities, and corrective action processes as needed.
Licenses and Certifications Required: - Current North Dakota Registered Nurse license
- BLS certification
Educational Requirements: - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing as evidenced by nursing license
Experience Requirements: - Previous swing bed and/or long term care experience preferred but not required
- Previous Quality Assurance experience preferred but not required
- Basic computer skills preferred, such as word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and email
Special Skills or Training Requirements: - Demonstrated evidence of dependability, initiative, and strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements: The Assistant Director of Nursing is frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout resident care areas while observing care, supporting staff, and assisting with clinical needs. The role may involve lifting, repositioning, or assisting residents, as well as handling equipment and supplies. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are needed to assess residents, review documentation, and communicate effectively in a fast paced long term care environment.
Environmental Requirements: Work occurs primarily in a long term care setting with routine exposure to resident care activities, infectious diseases, cleaning chemicals, and frequent interaction with residents, families, and interdisciplinary staff. The position may encounter occasional behavioral or emotional situations requiring calm, professional responses. Adherence to infectionprevention practices, safety procedures, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment is required at all times.
