Job Description
The CNA/BHT is a vital member of the interdisciplinary care team, providing direct support to residents in a 16-bed behavioral health Enhanced Services Facility (ESF). The role combines compassionate personal care with behavioral health interventions to promote resident stability, wellness, and recovery. The CNA/BHT works under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), and Program Coordinator to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of all residents.

Classification: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Full-time, Part-time, or Per Diem (Day, Evening, or Night Shifts)
Compensation: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour
Provide care and behavioral support in accordance with each resident’s Person-Centered Service Plan (PCSP), Behavior Support Plan (BSP), and Crisis Prevention and Response Protocol (CPRP).
Deliver personal care consistent with the ESF’s safety, de-escalation, and recovery-based standards.
Participate in ongoing training that includes mental health, dementia, infection control, and trauma-informed de-escalation (Therapeutic Options).
Prepare, serve, and monitor meals in accordance with DOH food safety standards.
Conduct and document food temperature checks to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Support Quality Improvement (QI) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives through audits and data collection.
Report changes in resident behavior, safety risks, or significant incidents immediately to the nurse or Program Coordinator.
Adhere to resident rights under RCW 70.129, ensuring all interactions promote dignity and safety.
Participate in emergency preparedness activities and follow fire, evacuation, and disaster procedures.
Maintain readiness for RCS, DOH, and DSHS inspections and reviews.
Active CNA certification preferred; relevant behavioral health experience may substitute.
Prior experience in mental health, substance use, or residential care strongly preferred.
Valid Washington State Food Handler’s Card required.
Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Must complete facility-mandated training (Therapeutic Options, Infection Control, HIPAA, etc.).
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to assist residents with ADLs, ambulation, and hygiene support.
Must maintain physical and emotional endurance during crisis or emergency interventions.
Trauma-informed and person-centered care approach.
Understanding of WAC 388-107 and resident rights under RCW 70.129.
Basic knowledge of medication support, safety, and infection control.
Food safety and sanitation compliance.
Team collaboration and communication.
Documentation accuracy and accountability.
