The person in this position maintains the cleanliness and presentation of resident rooms, hallways, dining spaces, and shared gathering areas within a memory care setting. A housekeeping/ Laundry asst liv also manages the washing, drying, folding, and return of resident clothing and facility linens. Because the community serves people with cognitive challenges, attention to routine, calm interactions, and respectful handling of personal belongings are essential parts of the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, dining areas, lounges, and common spaces following established schedules and infection-control standards.
- Collect, sort, launder, fold, and distribute resident garments and facility linens, keeping personal items properly labeled and returned to the correct resident.
- Restock supplies such as paper products, cleaning agents, and linens, and report shortages promptly.
- Operate commercial laundry equipment and cleaning tools safely, following manufacturer and facility guidelines.
- Dispose of waste and manage soiled linens according to safety and sanitation protocols.
- Maintain a tidy, hazard-free environment by removing clutter and reporting maintenance concerns.
- Interact gently and patiently with residents, offering reassurance and respecting their routines and privacy.
A dependable housekeeping/ Laundry asst liv coordinates closely with care staff to ensure that cleaning and laundry tasks fit around resident needs and daily activities without disruption.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior housekeeping or laundry experience in a healthcare, senior living, or hospitality setting is helpful.
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules, sanitation procedures, and safety guidelines consistently.
- Physical capacity to stand, walk, bend, lift, and push laundry and cleaning carts throughout a shift.
- Comfort working with residents who have memory-related conditions, demonstrating patience and compassion.
- Reliability, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
