Experienced Optician
No Evenings | No Weekends | Early Close on Fridays
We are seeking an experienced and professional Optician to join our team. This role combines optical sales, insurance verification, front desk coordination, and patient support within a fast-paced optometric practice. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
This position offers an excellent work-life balance with no evening or weekend hours and an early closing time on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
Answer phones and schedule patient appointments
Verify and qualify vision and medical insurance benefits
Check in patients and manage front desk flow
Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear based on prescription and lifestyle needs
Accurately measure patients’ eyes and facial features to ensure proper frame and lens fit
Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and frame styles
Adjust and repair eyewear to ensure comfort and satisfaction
Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, orders, and payments
Submit and follow up on vision insurance claims
Access and explain patients’ vision plan benefits clearly and confidently
Collaborate with optometrists to support comprehensive patient care
Qualifications
Previous experience as an optician or in a similar optical role is required
Strong knowledge of lenses, frames, and contact lenses
Experience with vision insurance verification, claims submission, and billing systems
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and trust
Proficiency with lens cutting and edging equipment
Retail sales experience preferred
Working knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care
Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment
Experience working with senior patients is a plus
