Job Description

Residents living with memory loss thrive when their days are filled with purpose, connection, and gentle encouragement. That is the heart of this part-time opportunity at Maple View Memory Care in Fargo, North Dakota. Working as a memory care activities aid, you will help design and lead the daily experiences that bring comfort, stimulation, and joy to people navigating dementia and related conditions.

About the Role

As a memory care activities aid, you become a trusted presence in the lives of residents and their families. You will plan and facilitate programming tailored to a range of cognitive abilities, from small-group reminiscence sessions to music, art, light exercise, and sensory activities. Each day offers a chance to meet residents where they are and help them feel engaged, valued, and safe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and lead individual and group activities that support cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Adapt programming to accommodate varying memory care needs, mobility levels, and personal interests.
  • Encourage resident participation with patience, warmth, and respect for each person's dignity.
  • Document resident involvement and observe changes in mood, behavior, or ability, sharing updates with the care team.
  • Set up and clean activity spaces, manage supplies, and help maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Assist with escorting residents to and from activities and provide supportive supervision throughout.
  • Collaborate with nursing and care staff so activities complement each resident's overall plan of care.

What Makes a Great Memory Care Activities Aid

The strongest candidates bring genuine compassion and creativity to this work. A successful memory care activities aid listens closely, improvises when a planned activity needs adjusting, and finds meaning in small moments of connection. Reliability matters just as much, because residents benefit from consistent, familiar faces.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in senior care, memory care, or a related activities role is valued but not required.
  • Comfort working with older adults who have dementia or other cognitive impairments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents, families, and staff.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents throughout a shift.
  • Availability for part-time hours, including some weekends or holidays as scheduled.

If you take pride in creating moments that matter, the role of memory care activities aid at Maple View offers steady, rewarding work close to home in Fargo.
