Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Provide physical therapy evaluation for all pupils having possible physical or physically associated problems, identifies such, and recommends solution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
A. Evaluate child referred for gross motor skills and communicate results of evaluation to referral sources
B. Provide appropriate direct or indirect physical therapy (as a related service to the student's IEP/IFSP).
C. Provide continuing evaluation of students to determine progress towards meeting therapy goals, establish new goals for therapy; and determine need for continuation of special services.
D. Document physical therapy services to a client in an accurate and timely manner.
E. Serve as a resource for physical education and classroom teachers in modifying or adapting gross motor activities to meet the needs of an individual or class.
F. Communicate with parent(s) or guardian regarding physician visits for the client and other community resources such as medical equipment supplies and finance assistance providers.
G. Recommend or acquire and maintain appropriate equipment or supplies to enhance the client's gross motor development and/or ability to function in the least restrictive environment possible.
H. Attend staff meeting to provide physical therapy input and enhance coordination of special services.
I. Participate in ongoing professional growth activities.
J. Monitor and comply with federal, state and district policies and procedures.
K. Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
L. Perform other duties as assigned.
