Automotive Refinishing Technician / Painter

Bailey's is looking for an Automotive Refinishing Technician / Painter to join our growing team in the Fargo/Moorhead area.

You'll work closely with our body technicians, production team, and management to properly prepare and refinish vehicles, maintain quality standards, and help keep repairs moving efficiently through the shop.

What You'll Do

As an Automotive Refinishing Technician / Painter, you'll play an important role in producing safe, high-quality repairs and a finished product our customers can be proud of.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare vehicles and parts for refinishing
• Sand, feather-edge, prime, seal, and mask vehicles as needed
• Mix and match automotive paint
• Apply primers, sealers, basecoat, and clearcoat
• Refinish repaired and replacement panels
• Blend adjacent panels when required
• Inspect painted surfaces for proper color match, coverage, texture, and finish
• Identify and correct paint imperfections
• Buff and polish refinished surfaces as needed
• Follow paint manufacturer procedures and technical guidelines
• Follow OEM repair procedures
• Maintain spray guns, paint equipment, and refinishing tools
• Keep the paint booth, mixing room, and work area clean and organized
• Communicate effectively with body technicians, production staff, and management
• Notify management of repair concerns or issues that could affect quality or production
• Help keep repairs moving according to schedule
• Meet quality and production deadlines
• Review completed work before vehicles move to the next stage of production
• Assist other team members when needed
• Help identify problems and develop solutions that improve workflow

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to pass a drug and background check

Automotive Refinishing Experience

Previous automotive refinishing experience is strongly preferred.

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

• 2+ years of automotive refinishing or painting experience
• Collision repair experience
• Automotive paint preparation
• Color matching and paint mixing
• Blending and refinishing panels
• Primer and sealer application
• Buffing and polishing
• Plastic repair
• Working with waterborne paint systems
• Working in a production collision repair environment

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work around vehicles
• Perform repetitive sanding and refinishing tasks
• Work around paint booths and refinishing equipment
• Wear required personal protective equipment
• Lift up to approximately 45 lbs.
