Position Summary
The Seasonal Garden Center Associate supports garden shop operations during the peak season. This role focuses on providing excellent customer service, assisting with plant care, and maintaining an organized and inviting shopping environment during the garden center’s open months.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with plant selection, gardening supplies, and general questions
- Operate the cash register and accurately process transactions
- Water, care for, and maintain plants to ensure quality and health
- Help customers load plants, soil, mulch, and other products
- Stock and organize plants, displays, and merchandise
- Keep the garden shop clean, safe, and well-maintained
- Monitor plant conditions and report any issues
- Assist with receiving and unloading deliveries
Qualifications
- Friendly, customer-focused attitude
- Willingness to learn basic plant care and product knowledge
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Reliable and able to work a consistent schedule
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor work in spring and summer conditions
- Fast-paced, customer-focused retail setting
Seasonal Schedule
- Position runs approximately 2–4 months during peak garden season (spring through early summer)
- Includes weekend and holiday shifts as required
