Job Description
Our partner is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant ready to grow into a leadership role within our finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the CFO by ensuring accurate financial data entry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in construction accounting and will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, and clients.
This role offers a clear path for advancement toward Controller and CFO responsibilities for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Support:
- Manage project accounting including schedule of values, pay applications, and lien law compliance
- Enter, review and process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports with high accuracy
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable tracking
- Prepare check runs and bank deposits
- Support month-end closings and financial reporting
- Maintain accurate financial records and files
- Ensure all certificates of insurance and lean releases are properly documented and certified
- Support CFO in financial reporting, audits, and general accounting operations
Leadership & Office Management:
- Maintain digital and hard copy filing systems
- Take initiative in day-to-day office management and accounting processes
- Identify and implement process improvements to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Uphold professional standards, attention to detail, and accountability
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (bachelor’s preferred)
- 5+ years of accounting experience, construction or trades preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting practices and related legal requirements
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting
- Familiarity with contract documentation and project billing processes
- Experience with ERP systems such as Acumatica, Sage, NetSuite, or similar
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and financial reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills, and ability to follow protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong drive, ambition, and leadership potential
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Notary Public desirable
Working Conditions:
