Job Description

MBN Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Transmission Designer or Engineer to work in person in our Fargo, ND office. The selected candidate will work directly under a licensed professional engineer to develop the required experience and knowledge to become a successful Licensed Transmission Engineer. MBN Engineering, Inc. is an S Corporation providing consulting services to Electric Utility Companies for transmission engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs routine aspects of transmission / distribution line engineering assignments
  • Performs line design according to relevant codes and standards using PLS-CADD software
  • Understands all safety codes and over load factors that pertain to transmission lines and distribution systems
  • Prepares plans, specifications, and construction estimates for transmission / distribution line projects
  • Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and recommends necessary changes
  • Researches design options and documents findings
  • Attends design review meetings and interacts with clients
  • Makes periodic visits to construction sites as required
  • Coordinates and works with material manufacturers and construction contractors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or civil engineering with 0 years of experience or designer with 5 plus years of related experience
  • EIT is preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working towards PE license
  • Must be willing to work in person on site in the Fargo, ND office
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • AutoCAD, Revit and BlueBeam experience a plus
  • Must be well organized and can work independently and collaboratively with other professionals, colleagues, and clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a professional and pleasant attitude
  • Desire to produce quality work and grow professionally while adhering to ethical company standards
  • Efficiently balance and maintain a schedule between several projects and timelines of multiple on-going projects
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment verification form upon hire

  • Applicants must be willing to work in person in our Fargo, ND office
  • MBN Engineering, Inc. does not cover relocation expenses

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Work hours are 8am - 5pm, 40 hours per week or as needed based on deadlines and project schedules
  • Summer hours (Memorial Day to Labor Day) Monday - Thursday 7:30 - 5:30, Friday 8:00 - 12:00
  • Salary to be determined based on experience - $65,000-$80,000 range depending upon experience
