Job Description
MBN Engineering provides consulting services to architects and developers for mechanical, electrical, civil and transmission engineering services We specialize in designing facilities such as sports complexes, recreational spaces, churches, medical and educational facilities, operations centers, mixed use, as well as commercial establishments for both public and private clients. MBN Engineering began in 2007 and has over 100 years of combined service and currently licensed in 33 states.
MBN Engineering is searching for a Transmission Engineering Student Intern to work in person in our Fargo, ND office. The selected candidate will work directly under a licensed professional engineer to develop the required experience and knowledge to become a successful Licensed Transmission Engineer. MBN Engineering is an S Corporation providing consulting services to Electric Utility Companies for transmission engineering.
Compensation
- Work hours can be coordinated with class schedule for 10-20 + hours per week. In the summer, the hours may be higher as long as work is available.
- $22 per hour with overtime if available
- Potential for full time employment with benefits upon graduation
Duties / Responsibilities
- Performs the routine aspects of transmission/distribution line engineering assignments
- Performs line design according to relevant codes and standards using PLS-CADD software package
- Understands all safety codes and over load factors that pertain to transmission lines and distribution systems
- Prepares plans, specifications, and construction estimates for transmission / distribution line projects
- Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and recommends necessary changes
- Researches design options and documents findings
- Coordinates and works with material manufacturers and construction contractors
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and pursuing BS degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to coordinate the work of various engineering disciplines and contractors to complete an integrated project
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment
- Basic computer skills required, with ability to learn Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, and AutoCAD in such applications as spreadsheets, databases, and engineering programs
- Must be well organized
- Must be a self-starter and comfortable working independently and in a collaborative work environment
- Must have a professional and pleasant attitude
- Must have a valid drivers license
