Overview
Join our team as a Transportation Assistant, where your energy, compassion, and commitment to service will play a vital role in supporting the well-being of our residents and patients. In this essential position, you will ensure the safe, timely, and comfortable transport of individuals, equipment, and supplies throughout our long-term care community. Your work helps residents maintain access to appointments, therapies, social activities, and daily routines that enrich their quality of life. Because this role involves close interaction with residents and supports direct care operations, Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry is required (CNA).
Rate of Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on experience; weekend differential.
Expected Hours: Full-time (mostly days), however you must be able to work business hours or later to accommodate return transports, on call as assigned, and weekend or after-hours events as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate facility vehicles (van, bus, etc.) to transport residents and patients to and from appointments, procedures, or other designated areas.
- Assist residents and patients with mobility needs, including transferring equipment such as lifts, beds, O2 concentrators, wheelchairs, etc. while adhering to proper techniques and safety protocols.
- Work closely with nursing staff and unit clerk to develop routes and calendars to meet facility needs.
- Ensure the comfort, dignity, and safety of residents and patients during transportation, including those with complex needs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation related to patient transfers.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, medical teams, and other healthcare professionals regarding resident and patient status and transportation schedules.
- Follow HIPAA regulations strictly to protect resident and patient confidentiality during all aspects of transportation and documentation.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly to ensure safety standards are upheld.
- Assist maintenance and nursing teams in other areas as needed when not transporting residents and patients such as facility maintenance projects, trash and refuse removal, etc.

Education and Experience
Prior experience working in a healthcare environment such as a hospital, nursing home, assisted living facility, or outpatient clinic is preferred.
- Current and active Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry required (CNA).
- Class C Minnesota Driver's License with no restrictions. Ability to obtain a Class B driver's license if directed.
- High School Graduate or GED required.
