Position: Welder
Shift: Monday-Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: Starting at $19.00/hour + Full Benefits Package
Location: Jamestown, ND
Job Summary:
Welds and assembles metal pieces and products using wire-feed welding equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepares, assembles and tack welds steel frames and other component parts of machinery and equipment.
• Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
• Operates pneumatic, electric, or manual overhead chain hoists to properly move heavy parts into position for final assembly.
• Operates forklift to move machine parts to other locations of the assembly operation.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
• Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Dependable, motivated and self-starter.
• Reads and understands blueprints and shop drawings, uses a square or combination square, straightedge ruler and tape measure.
• Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
Education/Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and specifications preferred.
• Welding or mechanical experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Must be able to navigate facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, bending, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
• Wear and work in personnel protective equipment.
Work Environment:
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Noise level is moderate to loud.
• Frequently exposed to airborne particles.
• Exposure to heat/humidity during summer months.
